Crib Skirt/ Changing Pad Cover

After we moved into our home and before the baby was born, Pinterest was my go to place for ideas on how I wanted to do our nursery!  After probably hours of looking I found this nursery and completely feel in love.  I wanted bright colors and loved the white furniture and grey walls.  We did the exact same paint job, some of the same fabric, bought the same Ikea dresser and lamp in green from target.... did I tell you how original I am?? Some things were different, I wanted a white cube crib and my mom bought me one from Walmart for under $200.  We also bought a white chair with matching footstool from Ikea. I should add that by We I really mean my husband Caleb, props go to him for doing all the paint and taking all that time to put the furniture together, he really is a keeper :)
My latest project in the nursery was sewing the changing pad cover and crib skirt.  (Mom sewed the curtains)  I couldn't believe how easy it was and will definitely be doing my own for my future kiddos.  I found this tutorial on the crib skirt, I loved it because it was basic and will be easy to adjust when I lower the crib and because of the design on my crib I only had to do one side.  I used this tutorial for the changing pad cover, super easy and will make a great shower gift! I have more projects I'm in the middle of for the nursery and will post more pics soon!  I'm also working on refinishing a desk that I should have up soon and am getting ready to do my own curtains for my front room!

Wall Gallery

This was my very first project in our house!  I wasn't 100% sure of what I wanted for my gallery but I knew that I didn't want all black frames, I wanted to have a few canvas pictures and to use different frame sizes and colors that went with the design in my living room.  I actually didn't find anything that I liked on Pinterest I'm sure I could now but I did find my inspiration here for the color of the frames on houzz.com, another website that I could waste hours on.

The cream frames, the LOVE art, the H and the wooden frames that were painted the same blue as our accent wall were purchased at Hobby Lobby, the green and brown frames I bought from Gordman's and the canvas pictures were ordered from Inkelys.  I spent about $150 on the prints and frames but didn't learn until later that you can do DIY canvas pictures for much cheaper here is the tutorial.  I layed out and spaced the frames the way I wanted and then traced them on to craft paper and then my cute hubby hung the craft paper up and set the nails where needed.  Pinterest has a lot of ideas on how to easily hang a wall gallery like here or here.

DIY Challenged to Rookie Crafter

Pinterest... that devil... is my obsession lately, just ask my husband. I'm constantly showing him my new pins and talking to him about ideas I have for the house. If someone forced me to chose between FB or Pinterest, I'd chose Pinterest. I'm not that creative or crafty, I'm on a tight budget for new decor and furniture in our home and so Pinterest has seriously opened my eyes to DIY and gives me tutorials on exactly how to do it.

I wanted to start a blog as a way to document my Pinterest projects that I’ve been working on.  Just a little background...Caleb and I started our marriage 3 years ago in a one bedroom apartment with literally a bed, a dresser, a small two cushion couch, and a T.V. No curtains, no cute decorations, no furniture!  At the time we were struggling to pay for college for the both of us.  Now we've just bought a beautiful home last April, and now have an adorable, chubby little 6 month old boy and because the budget is still tight, there hasn’t been a lot of change in the home decor department.  We did get rid of our homely little couch, bought 2 couches and a man chair, bought table and chairs for the kitchen, entertainment center for the living room & furnished the nursery! Now that I have the handy man hubby, the house and Pinterest I'm ready to transform my home!
